Arjan Bhullar becomes India’s 1st MMA world champion

अर्जन भुल्लर (Arjan Bhullar) हाल ही में शीर्ष स्तर के मिक्स्ड मार्शल आर्टस (MMA) प्रमोशन में विश्व खिताब जीतने वाले पहले भारतीय मूल के फाइटर बन गए। वे ब्रैंडन वेरा को हराकर सिंगापुर की वन चैंपियनशिप में हैवीवेट विश्व चैंपियन बने। अर्जन भुल्लर ने इस मुकाबले में शानदार प्रदर्शन किया। इस जीत के साथ Arjan Bhullar ने फिलिपींस मूल के अमेरिकी वेरा का पांच साल से चला आ रहा वर्चस्व तोड़ दिया।

अर्जन भुल्लर (Arjan Bhullar):

पहलवान अर्जन भुल्लर ने साल 2010 में दिल्ली में राष्ट्रमंडल खेलों का स्वर्ण पदक जीता था। वे साल 2012 में लंदन में ओलंपिक में कनाडा का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाले पहले भारतीय मूल के फ्रीस्टाइल पहलवान बने। उन्होंने अपने कुश्ती करियर के बाद जब यूएफसी (UFC)-215 में लुइस एनरिग बारबोसा डी ओलिवेरा के खिलाफ अपना UFC डेब्यू किया और जीत दर्ज की तो वह ऐसा करने वाले भारतीय मूल के पहले फाइटर बन गए थे।

35 साल के अर्जन भुल्लर ने छोटी उम्र से ही पहलवानी शुरू कर दी थी। वे लगातार पांच साल तक कनाडा की राष्ट्रीय टीम का हिस्सा रहे। साल  2008 से 2012 तक 120 किग्रा वजन वर्ग में लगातार चैंपियन बनते रहे। उन्होंने साल 2007 में पैन अमरीका खेलों में कनाडा का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हुए 120 किग्रा वर्ग में कांस्य पदक जीता था।
