प्रत्येक वर्ष 16 मई को स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय द्वारा राष्ट्रीय डेंगू दिवस (National Dengue Day) के रूप में मनाया जाता है। National Dengue Day को मनाने का उद्देश्य डेंगू से बचाव के प्रति लोगों में जागरूकता पैदा करना है।
डेंगू (Dengue):
डेंगू एक विषाणु जनित (वायरल) रोग है। यह संक्रमित मादा एडीज मच्छर (Female Aedes Mosquito) के काटने से फैलता है। एडीज मच्छर के शरीर पर काले व सफेद रंग की पट्टियां हाती है। डेंगू का मच्छर पानी में पनपता है। यह मच्छर अधिकतर रोशनी में काटते हैं। बारिश होने के साथ देश में जुलाई से अक्टूबर के दौरान सबसे ज्यादा डेंगू फैलता है। डेंगू होने पर व्यक्ति को तेज़ बुख़ार, शरीर में दर्द, आंखों में दर्द और त्वचा पर चकत्ते जैसे लक्षण हो सकते हैं। डेंगू के कारण खून में प्लेटलेट कम हो जाती है।
डेंगू वायरस चार प्रकार के होते है DEN1 ,DEN2,DEN3,DEN4 डेंगू बिमारी एक ऐसा बुखार है जिसे महामारी के रूप में देखा गया है।वयस्कों की तुलना में बच्चों में इस बिमारी की तीव्रता अधिक होती है तथा डेंगू उन लोगों को ज्यादा प्रभावित करता है जिनकी रोग प्रतिरोधक क्षमता कम होती है। संक्रमित मच्छर द्वारा स्वस्थ्य व्यक्ति को काटने एवं व्यक्ति में डेंगू बुखार के लक्षण प्रकट होने की अवधि को संक्रमण काल कहते हैं। यह 3-14 दिनों तक होता है। डेंगू बुखार के लक्षण तीन प्रकार का होता है, डेंगू साधारण बुखार, ।डेंगू हॅमरेजिक बुखार,। डेंगू शाक सिन्ड्रोम है।
